Hawaii Marches Toward New Gun Law
A bill to allow police to seize guns from people who pose ‘a serious risk of violence or harm to public safety’ cleared a Hawaii Senate committee on Thursday. The bill, which still has a long path before coming law, would require police to obtain a warrant before taking someone’s weapon. A hearing would be held within 30 days of the seizure, at which point a judge would determine whether to return the gun.
